Emergency & Critical Care Services
The Emergency & Critical Care Departments at Tufts VETS include a very talented team of emergency-trained clinicians. The facility is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and can handle most emergencies. The facility also works cooperatively with the Emergency and Critical Care department of Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in North Grafton, Massachusetts.
Our highly skilled technical staff consists of 21 technicians caring for approximately 6,000 cases per year that present to our emergency room. Our ICU is equipped to provide advanced monitoring, transfusion medicine, positive pressure ventilation, peritoneal dialysis, and other life support techniques necessary for state-of-the-art critical care. Emergency surgeries are performed by our surgeons and emergency doctors 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. The Emergency & Critical Care department currently include two Diplomates of the American College of Emergency and Critical Care and 6 residents. Three interns will also be added to our team.
